Take a NYC Biking Tour

Central Park in April is phenomenal and what better way to explore all 843 acres and cruise the West Side Highway than on bicycle?

NYC Biking Tour

If had to pick my FAVORITE way to explore NYC, it would be on bicycle! Just ask anyone who has visited me, I take them all around on bike. The views and hidden nooks of NYC you can see along our greenways are second to none.

NYC Insider Top Choices for Bike Tours:

  • New York Highlights Bike Tour (3 hrs) - good for all ages, offer bike trailers and baby seats, helmets, guides, from Harlem to the Brooklyn Bridge (9 miles).
  • Guided Bike Tour of Central Park (2 hrs)- guided tour through our amazing 843 acres, seeing Strawberry Fields, Cherry Hill, Tavern on the Green, Bethesda Fountain, Onassis Reservoir, the Alice in Wonderland Statue, Cleopatra’s Needle and the Dakota
  • Brooklyn Bridge & Waterfront Bike Tour (2 hrs) - cycle around Manhattan’s southern tip, climb uphill into the City Hall area, then up onto the Brooklyn Bridge, a steady climb of about 15 minutes.

April Sports in New York City

Watching any of our professional sports teams is a NYC must-do all year round. But, April is particularly exhilarating as we usually have at least one, if not more, hockey (Rangers and Islanders) and basketball (Knicks and Nets) teams in the playoffs along with renewed hope for the just beginning Mets and Yankees baseball seasons.

Citifield Mets Shake Shack

So whether you head to Yankees Stadium or Citi Field for baseball, or Madison Square Garden or Barclay’s Center for basketball, or Yankee Stadium for the NYCFC…or even just try and watch them all on TV at a bar, there’s no doubt, cheering for a NYC Sports team is one of the most fun things to do in April.

Get Your Tennis Permit

My favorite time of year…when NYC public tennis courts open! The NYC public parks tennis season generally runs from the first Saturday in April to the Sunday before Thanksgiving, making the $100 seasonal permit a bargain.

Tennis in New York City

You can get a permit online, by mail or in person at Central Park or Paragon in Union Square. There is nothing like the classic experience of playing in Central Park, East River Park, Riverside Park, Tribeca or any of the other 100s of tennis courts in NYC. And now that we have the ability to reserve courts, playing tennis in NYC is easier than ever.

April Weather in New York

Hopefully, April is when we really start to see spring and, at most, we need lightweight sweaters and coats. Definitely bring boots and umbrellas, as this is the “you never know what you will get month.” Temperatures and rainfall will fluctuate throughout the day as well as from day to night, especially on warmer days.

Historical April high/low temperatures are 61/44 (F) and 16/6(C). It is best to pack lots of layers – sweaters over shirts, a jacket you can easily take off and stuff in a bag, bring umbrellas and plan for heavier night than day clothing.
