Disney’s newest musical is set in New York City at the turn of the century. Newsies is the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a ragged band of teen aged “newsies,” who dreams only of a better life far from the hardship of the streets.

Newsies Broadway Musical

Synopsis: EXTRA EXTRA, read all about it! The cherished 1992 Disney movie, Newsies, which starred Christian Bale and Bill Pullman, becomes all new Disney musical on Broadway at the Nederlander Theatre. Based on the events of the New York City newsboy strike in 1899, this toe-tapping musical adventure follows the perseverance of a group of tattered orphans when newspaper tycoons decide to raise their distribution costs.

The newsies band together to form a union of all the newspaper boys throughout New York City to thwart the profit-increasing plan and save their hardworking livelihood. It’s a classic David and Goliath tale with all the memorable music of the original film like “Seize the Day” and “King of New York.”
