Fleet Week New York City

Fleet Week New York City

Thousands of Sailors, Marines and Coast Guardsmen from U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard ships have come to NYC nearly every year since 1984. Fleet Week is the City’s celebration of the sea services and provides an opportunity to see the latest capabilities of today’s Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard Team.

Fleet Week includes dozens of military demonstrations and displays, as well as public visitation of many of the participating ships. Ship Tours are held at Pier 88 and in Staten Island, daily Thursday – Monday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.

What to Wear in NYC in May - New York Weather May

New York weather in May weather is delightful and the Central Park foliage is fully blooming, making one of their free tours an ideal thing to do. The weathermen will tell you the summer does not start until June 21st, but any New Yorker will tell you Memorial Day Weekend is officially the start of the summer. Expect New York City to clear out on the weekend prior to the fourth Monday in May.

As the daylight hours get longer, you will need lightweight sweaters and coats in May to prepare for large day to night temperature drops.

To celebrate Mother’s Day, graduations and the many joyous occasions of Spring, Mandarin Oriental New York, will host a Spring Afternoon Tea experience at MO Lounge to be offered daily for the entire month of May 2023. Enjoy Central Park views while enjoying afternoon tea, which will consist of a selection of tea sandwiches and sweets, as well as traditional and curated teas. Highlights include the Black Truffle and Organic Egg Salad on Brioche and Salmon Pastrami Roulette and Dill Crème Fraiche on Crackling Rye, as well as the Blueberry Sakura Cake.

The experience will be priced at $110 per person or $140 including a glass of champagne. A children’s Afternoon Tea menu is available at $85 per person. Seating times are between 12:00pm and 3:00pm.
