Luggage storage in New York City has changed dramatically in the years following 9/11 and with the introduction of the crowd sourcing and the sharing economy. We have some traditional ways for you to store your luggage as well as some unique "only in NYC" best ways to store luggage in NYC. Of course, almost all hotels will your store luggage free either before or after your reservation, so that should be the first place you check. Luggage Storage Penn Station (Amtrak)

Penn Station no longer offers luggage storage since 9/11. However, Amtrak ticket holders may store their luggage for $10 per piece at Penn Station. According to the Amtrak site, "Customers holding tickets for Amtrak travel may store their items in Parcel Check service when available for $10 per item for 24 hours. Customers that don’t have an Amtrak ticket may store items for $20 per item for 24 hours (valid photo ID required)." See Amtrak Penn Station Luggage for details.

Luggage Storage Grand Central Station

Luggage Storage Port Authority NYC

Those who are looking for luggage storage at Port Authority should check with their bus carrier, who may have limited storage capacity. If you are a ticketed Greyhound passenger, you can store your baggage at the Greyhound ticket window for a fee.

Schwartz Travel & Storage

Schwartz Travel & Storage was the original luggage storage option in NYC, long before the sharing economy, the internet and apps existed. They have an excellent reputation and their flagship store is location at 357 West 37 Street, between 8th and 9th Aves, and between Penn Station (34th) and Port Authority (40th).

Schwartz is on the ground floor (no steps, elevators or escalators), they are open 24/7, offer rates $5 to $10 Maximum Per day (depending on the size) and will match or beat any competitors rates. Walk ins are welcome and no reservation is necessary.

CBH Luggage Storage

CBH is another reliable place where travelers can store their luggage. CBH is on the 5th floor of an elevator building at 31 West 46th Street Between 5th & 6th Avenue, near Grand Central Station.

Regular charges are $2.50 per hour per bag, $7-10 per day and oversized bags ( like surfboards) are charged between $15 to $20. Pick up or drop off outside of the working hours (7am to midnight) has an additional fee of $59&up.

Other services offered by CBH include Boarding Pass printing, free lounge with TV area, free wifi & phone charging.
