New York Passes – How They Work

The New York Pass is good for a set number of consecutive calendar days (1, 2, 3, 5, 7 or 10 Days) with access to over 80 New York City Sightseeing options.

Adult Prices range from $134 (1 Day) to $469 (10 Day). NOTE: The New York Passes are on sale very often, so please check the New York Pass website for current prices. Using an average of $20 per attraction and 3 attractions per day, it is difficult to see the value in a 1-day pass, or even the 2-day.

However, the 3-10 day New York Passes are a very good value if you take advantage of some of the more expensive tours and attractions or use the 15% discount on a Helicopter Tour (about $100 per person for 8 minutes).

NYC Insider Guide Top Value Picks Included:

  1. Big Bus Hop-on Hop-off Tours ($59 value)
  2. Central Park Bicycle Rentals & Tours ($63 value)
  3. Circle Line Sightseeing Cruises ($44 value)

New York Pass – Testimonials

★★★★★

‘If you’re going to New York you must get a New York Pass. Our family of four saved over $1,000 by using the pass instead of paying entrance fees for all the attractions. We couldn’t have seen anywhere near as much of the city if we hadn’t had the pass as we couldn’t have justified paying the entrance to many’ Kimberley C, United Kingdom ★★★★★

“Not only do I feel like I got my money’s worth, and then some, it gave me more idea’s of attractions and things to do on my trip that I hadn’t even considered. I’ve told anyone I know that is thinking about a trip to New York not to go without a New York Pass” Lisa ★★★★★

“The idea of buying a NY Pass was great and paid back big time. This wasn’t only the money saving, but also the time I would have to spend otherwise, looking for attractions and planning. You saved me the time and the money” Colin from Scotland

Tips on Using New York Attractions Passes

The first thing I recommend is to check the long range weather forecast and, if raining decide to do the museums and things that do not require good photographs on those rainy days. We picked a clear night to do the Twilight cruise. The moon was full and the sun setting on the windows set the buildings ablaze from within. The sun threw its fire across the Hudson and East River and lit up the New York Skyline in dipping colors of pink, red and yellow. It looked like a modern painting.

The architecture of the Skyline has been altered by the new buildings around Ground Zero and a new Canadian architect – John Ghery has created a twisted ribbon effect on his building, which really stands out from all angles.

The hop on hop off buses were terrific. We did the Southern loop first and the northern route on a rainy day as the museums were on that route.

I, personally, was disappointed in the Guggenheim Museum, as the art did not impress me. It was a Japanese artist named Lee. I just didn’t get it. The rest of it was good, especially liked the bottom 2 floors.

The Metropolitan Museum was exciting. I wish I had more time to look around there. I could have spent a day there. The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) was fun. I was amazed by the quantity of good paintings that were there. Wish we could have gone out into the gardens, but the door was blocked.

The Passes to do all this made our enjoyment of New York so much better than if we had tried to find our way around by taxi or pot luck. I highly recommend this to anyone going to New York for the first time or for those who have not been there in a long time. New York is much cleaner and safer than I remember from some 20 years ago. I Love New York and definitely plan to return.

The New York Pass Discounts only offer you entrance to a small part of what makes New York City so special. Ultimately, you have to decide how much you want to take on while you’re here, and how much room you want to leave for our New York City Events and Neighborhoods. Remember, some of us live exhilarating lives here and go years without seeing any attractions at all.
