NYC Young Family of Four Vacation Itinerary
Brooklyn Bridge and NYC Skyline at Night
Since I was traveling with my husband and two daughters, one 10 and the other 5, we mainly stuck to kid-friendly areas. Of course, we visited the main attractions such as the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building observatory level. If you plan to do either of those things, be sure to go in the middle of the week and go as early as possible to beat the crowds. After all, there is nothing worse than being on line for 3 hours with a couple of whiny kids and grouchy parents.
Times Square should be visited twice, once during the day to enjoy the beach chair areas and once after midnight to see the street artists. Nearby, visit St. Patrick's Cathedral...I get chills from the beauty of the architecture. Although New York is amazing overall, I especially loved walking across the Brooklyn Bridge just when the sun is setting (closer to Statue of Liberty). You can't find better pictures of the bridge and the skyline anywhere else!
As for meals, when you're in NY, eat like a New Yorker! --Food carts offer cheap, fast, and delicious food, not found anywhere else. Check New York's Annual Vendy Awards to see who New Yorkers vote as the best "sidewalks chefs" in the city.
