The 2010 DDF features Kathakali dancers and musicians from India, supported by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations. Another international highlight will be performances by one of Japan’s most respected classical modern dance companies, Yuko Takahashi Dance Company from Sendai. Tuesday, August 24: Fame, a musical from the 1980s that follows talented students through their studies at a Performing Arts High School in New York City.
Wednesday, August 25: The Taking of the Pelham 1 2 3, a remake of the classic 1970s flick about a criminal (John Travolta) who hijacks a New York City subway train. Dispatcher Walter Graber (Denzel Washington) tries to gain control of the situation in this intense crime thriller.
Thursday, August 26: Saturday Night Fever, a disco classic that follows Tony Manero (John Travolta), a Brooklyn youth who is king of the 1970s dance floor.
Friday, August 27: King Kong, a cult classic featuring a giant gorilla that abducts a beautiful blond actress.
Saturday, August 28: Viewers’ Choice! Visit www.7online.com through August 15 to cast your vote for either Serendipity, a romantic comedy about a couple (John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale) who find each other again years after the night they first met and fell in love in New York City, or Manhattan, a Woody Allen classic about a writer (Allen) who has a troubled romantic life but finds love with his best friend’s mistress (Diane Keaton).
