NoHo NYC Guide

Shopping, Restaurants, Celebrities, Unique and Funky

NoHo Things to Do

NoHo NYC, which stands for NOrth of HOuston, has an abundance of nightlife, restaurants, and many shops offering one-of-a-kind designer goods. This is often where up-and-coming designers open their first clothing, jewelry and leather goods boutiques before they become super-famous. For more about Greenwich Village, see East Village or West Village.

NoHo Recommended Restaurants

Five Points (31 Great Jones St/Lafayette) – great brunch spot, also serving lunch and dinner. Wonderfully Zen décor, a waterfall in the middle and mostly good (not always, especially before I’ve had my coffee) service.

Bond St Sushi (6 Bond St/Lafayette) – very swanky sushi spot. $50 and up for dinner. Crowd is well-dressed, both for business and dates.

Double Crown (316 Bowery at Bleecker,) – British/SE Asian mix. Hip, trendy with Madam Geneva, an adjacent bar and cocktail lounge with an extensive gin list and unique "gin and jam" cocktails.

Elizabeth (275 Elizabeth) – great restaurant, good nightlife, with a lovely outdoor garden for summer, enclosed in winter.

La Esquina (114 Kenmare, Centre St) – on the outside, a dive Mexican taco stand, but inside (once you walk through the kitchen), one of the hottest and secret restaurants and nightlife in all of Manhattan.

NoHo NYC Shopping

Many tiny, original and unique boutiques line the streets on Mulberry, Mott and Elizabeth Streets. Don’t expect brand names (ie, chain stores), but original high-end designers, many of whom go on to become household brand names. Much cooler than fake, illegal bags on Canal Street.

EDGE*nyNOHO (65 Bleecker St/ Crosby) – over 40 up-and-coming jewelry and 20 more clothing designers in a “flea-market” type space. Designers want to please you, so expect free customization and alterations.
