In Manhattan, we have access to huge discounts on designer clothing, handbags, shoes and cosmetics. As a visitor, it is nearly impossible to get the inside scoop on New York City Shopping and Sample Sales, which come from a variety of newspapers, magazines, flyers, email lists, Facebook groups and most importantly, my friends and family!

What exactly is a New York City Sample Sale?
It is not just samples or sample sizes, usually it’s neither of those. Most often, it is the way designers sell off their first quality merchandise from the prior season. For example, a shoe sample sale in November is selling the prior Spring/Summer collection and one in May is selling the Winter collection. The sales are often held in warehouse spaces or hotel conference centers. Many times a designer will rent a commercial space that is temporarily vacant as the prior tenant has left and new one is not in yet.
