AFRICAN AMERICAN WOMEN IN CINEMA 13TH ANNUAL FILM FESTIVAL. This landmark three-day event continues to highlight the work of aspiring and prominent women filmmakers of African, Latin and Asian descent throughout the Diaspora. There will be a special screening of the original production "For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf" starring Ntozake Shange, Lynn Whitfield and Alfre Woodard, along with a special "Conversation with Ntozake Shange."

The AAWIC film festival line-up includes a special screening of the film 'Promised Land,' followed by a Q&A segment with the filmmaker & audience.

The 13th Annual African American Women in Cinema (AAWIC) will present awards to three notable filmmakers:
? Ms. Lisa Cortés, Executive Producer, Producer, President of Cortés Films
Credits include: Precious, Tennessee, Shadowboxer, The Woodsman and Sangam.
? Ms. Ntozake Shange, Award-Winning Play writer and Poet
Credits include: For Colored Girls, For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide/When the Rainbow Is Enuf, Some Sing, Some Cry: A Novel and Betsey Brown.
? Ms. Grace Blake, Executive Producer, Associate Producer, Production Supervisor
Credits include: Silence of the Lambs, School Daze, Boomerang, Lean on Me, Prizzi?s Honor, The Cotton Club and The Wiz.

On Friday, Nov 19, there will also be a program which highlights a focus on the "Next Generation of Filmmakers." Location: Jaqueline Kennedy Onassis Performing Arts School, 120 West 46th Street, NYC

The evening will consist of film screenings by youth filmmakers, followed by Q&A. Honorary Host: SaCha Stewart, star of the Broadway Hit "Fences," starring Denzel Washington and Viola Davis.

On Saturday, November 20, 2010, there will be a Closing Reception
from 6:30pm ? 9:30pm, Ticket Needed.
Location: New York City College of Technology, 300 Jay Street, Brooklyn, NY. Special screening of the original production "For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf" starring Ntozake Shange, Lynn Whitfield and Alfre Woodard.
A special "Conversation with Ntozake Shange." Special Honorary Award Presentation to Award Winning Writer Ntozake Shange.
Moderated by: Felicia R. Lee, New York Times, Co-Sponsored by New York Women in Film & Television.
