Times Square and Theater District

Times Square and the Theater District are some of
New York City's most popular tourist attractions.

Of course, Broadway, also known as the Great White Way, is most definitely for locals as well. Spend a bit of time here and make sure to see the lights at night, but remember, it is only 5 blocks, a tiny part of Manhattan, and offers little NYC history or culture. See Broadway Shows for more on discount tickets.

Recommended Restaurants

Restaurant Row (46th  St, 8th/9th Aves) ? 30 restaurants on one block, most ?touristy,? all for Broadway theatre crowd, serving prix-fixe specials.

Mars 2112 (51st/Bway) - food stinks, but take the space ship ride to get in that kids love and the whole place is some kind of cross between Star Wars and Star Trek.

Ruby Foos (1626 Bway/49th St). Sushi, Chinese and other Asian

Becco (355 W 46th, 8th Ave) ? Italian, prix-fixe menus, all you can eat Pasta

Meskerem (468 W 47th , 10th Ave) ? Ethiopian. Inexpensive, interesting, and if you?ve never eaten by using spongy bread to pick up your food (no utensils), it?s fun and a must-try. Most dishes are spicy and many are vegetarian friendly.

See Midtown West for additional restaurant recommendations

Shopping

These stores run from 42nd to 48th Street, along 2 Avenues. Without stopping and shopping, the whole area would take 15 minutes to walk. See our new Times Square Photo Gallery.
