New York City Things to Do
Dining, Shopping, Sports and Nightlife
Many New York City things to do are FREE, discounted, bargains or just really cheap! If your timing is right, you can eat a three-course dinner at the best restaurants in New York for $35! Or have a world famous facial at Elizabeth Arden's Red Door Spa for $50.
Things To Do
Many events, sales and activities are held at the same time(s) every year. Note the dates of past events. If your favorite New York City things to do have not been announced, check back frequently, because it will be soon.
The list of things to do in New York City is almost too long - every minute of the year there is something to do - eating, drinking, shopping, sightseeing, shows, museums, touring, cheering on a sports team, bar and club hopping....even children can be kept busy all the time, if you let them.
In addition to all the wonderful sightseeing, tourism, museums and world-famous restaurants, New York is filled with special one-of-a-kind events you most likely won't find anywhere else.
These are highlights of some of my favorite New York City things to do- some are one time and many are annual. So even if you can't make Restaurant Week this summer, check back in the winter or same time next year for the next one.

Movie screenings are offered long before movie releases, for Producers want to test audience reaction, or 2 different endings. You may even be asked to fill out a questionnaire. It's always fun to say "I saw a preview of that months ago" on opening night of a blockbuster! Most of the screenings are list only, but subscribe to the NYC Insider Scoop or try CinemaSource or NYCMovieScreenings. |

New York City Things to Do - TV Show Tickets |
|||
|
Attending live tapings of TV shows is fun and free. The ticket wait is often months long, so write in for tickets as far in advance as possible. See The Today Show, The Early Show, Good Morning America, Live with Regis and Kelly, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Late Show and many more. If you can't get tickets to a TV taping, a great alternative, is an NBC Studio Tour, combined with your Top of the Rock ticket. |

NYC Insider Tip - How Long is a TV Taping?
While watching a live taping is a fun experience, even if you have tickets in hand for a live TV Show taping, it is a very long and slow process. Sometimes, tickets and reservations do not even guarantee you admission. You must arrive at the theater and wait in line for at least an hour, go through an audience warm up (30-60 min), and they often shoot additional footage at the end of the show...so if this is a must-see for you, go for it. Just remember how many other amazing New York City things to do there are! Fodors and NYCGo have details.
