In The Heights Broadway Musical
Show Review and Discount Tickets
Show Synopsis
In the Heights tells the universal story of a vibrant community in Manhattan's Washington Heights – a place where the coffee from the corner bodega is light and sweet, the windows are always open, and the breeze carries the rhythm of three generations of music. It's a community on the brink of change, full of hopes, dreams and pressures, where the biggest struggles can be deciding which traditions you take with you, and which ones you leave behind. It is a musical about the importance of home, family and finding where you belong.
NYC Insider Guide Review
After getting my discount tickets through NYC Insider Guide at Ticketmaster, I was pretty excited to see NYC's latest Four-Tony Award Winning Musical!
Short Review
- Outstanding music, choreography, rhythm and beats
- Latina, Brazilian, ethnic vibe to the whole show
- Good seat is important, spend for the first two tiers
- Somewhat difficult to understand the speaking so had a bit trouble following the plot - might be because of high seats. Watch the video below to hear for yourself.
- Think Rent or West Side Story - or a combination
The show takes place on street corner, in Washington Heights, an area the characters refer to as "the Bario." The story centers around the three shops, a Bodega, Salon, and Limo Company, along with the local residents and shop employees.
The characters were very colorful, especially the Salon owner, who I thought was hysterical. Another funny character was a young guy in a baseball hat, whose name I didn't catch.
In terms of dancing, singing, stage design and costumes, this is definitely on par with other famous Broadway musicals. The songs had a great beat and the show was definitely different than the typical Broadway Musical. The deciding factor will be if the plot and theme appeal to you and your family.
You can try for bargain seats, but I recommend sitting in the first two tiers, this is a huge theater! Check our Broadway Specials for your discount code or if you just love Brazilian/Latin beats and want see some incredible and unique choreography, buy your tickets today.
